Black Hole Hubble

Did you know Hubble helped verify that black holes exist? Since launching in 1990, it's helped astronomers learn lots about these cosmic objects.

For example, this amazing view taken by Hubble Space Telescope in the 1990s show disks of dust fueling black holes at the centers of galaxies.

Hubble taught us that black holes exist at the hearts of most galaxies. It also completed a census of galaxies, and showed that a black hole’s mass depends on the mass of its host galaxy’s central bulge of stars: the larger the galaxy, the larger the black hole.
